Hi, I'm JONATHAN

I grew up in San Diego and studied 20th Century Literature at U.C. Berkeley. Met my wife at Dolores Park in San Francisco. Today we live in West Seattle, USA with our 14-year-old son William and chaotic corgi. Will loves baggy jeans and video games. We all love the Sounders, Seahawks, and Kraken.

I'm obsessed with books and records. And have been my whole life. It started with The Cure. My high school years. Then college hit and I got into indie rock and the Beat poets. I also played guitar in small, local bands for most of my 20s. And got an MFA in Creative Writing, Poetry. Lately I’ve been re-reading Carver and listening to Slowdive.

I approach the creative process like being in a band.
Just a group of people in a room, debating every note, lyric, and solo.
But at the end of the day, it doesn't matter who wrote what. Or who plays what. Because we're one band, making one song.
Together.

"Jonathan was the best, most empathetic manager I had ever had. He's a world-class creative, no doubt about that, but what really made an impact for me was the time he spent listening, mentoring, and leading. 1:1's with Jonathan showed that he truly cared about how my experience at Amazon was going, whether or not I was feeling fulfilled, and what I wanted the future of my career to look like. His feedback and direction on my work were always top-notch. And, at the same time, I knew Jonathan cared about more than just the work. He cared about my relationship to it. He knew, from experience, how to help me get the most out what I was currently doing and how to point myself in the right direction to get wherever I wanted to go next."
